A standard building permit issued from the Department of Buildings typically requires a comprehensive multi-discipline review. That in-depth review can take a considerable amount of calendar time. Long reviews delay the start date of your upcoming project. We can help speed up your project.  We help your schedule by obtaining a faster permit. Give your project schedule some slack by starting with Coyne + Associates Architects.

Get Over-Served!

St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations

On the brink of St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in Chicago, the excitement is building for one of Chicago’s most celebrated annual events. People of all varieties are welcomed to go a bit over-the-line from their normal behavior during the events of this jubilee.

Get Over-Served

Are you ready to cross-the-line from normality? Choose the mundane path of following the road map of minimum expectations or choose the path to make a difference. Making a difference requires more than the norm. Doing something that really matters will require that you cross-the-line of comfort. If you are ready to leap, and give it your all, your every-all, then enter the world of the over-served.

Over-Serve Others

Doing business with the over-serve attitude provides clients and customers with more than they expect, more than they ask from us, and specifically more than the limits set by the price they paid. To provide more; to exceed the minimum expectations, it takes much more than time and financial resources. It requires a commitment to the philosophy to give, to offer more than the defined requirements.

If this philosophy resonates in your bones, please consider joining team COYNE.

Architect of the Year Award

February 22, 2014 by cfrisbie

project-of-the-year

Coyne + Associates Architects would like to thank Chicago Public Schools for recently presenting us with the Capital Improvement 2013 Architect of the Year award for our work on the CICS Chicago Quest school project.  Awards don’t come along very often in any walk of life, so we would like to express our gratitude at being recognized, as well as thank the Design Management team at CannonDesign, the Project Director team at Jacobs, the construction management team at Lend-Lease, our sub-consultants Prism, GRAEF, IRCA, and Cosentini, as well the K.R. Miller Contractors team and subcontractors for all working together to pull off a great project.

The experience on the Chicago Quest school project is just another reason why our firm is very passionate about working with school districts and charter schools to upgrade schools and create outstanding learning environments for the children of Chicago.  The Coyne + Associates team thoroughly enjoys the challenges of meeting time and budget constraints on difficult projects while turning out great results.

2013 AOY award-framed

The CICS Chicago Quest school project included a complete gut of  interior work as well as new facades, roofing system and mechanical systems.  The newly designed high school facility includes innovations labs, science labs, classrooms and administration spaces. The new facades incorporate the use of pre-finished modular cement panels, allowing the tight schedule to come together quickly.

Take a look at the time lapse video of the facade during construction here or Start your own design here.

coyne-cut-red-tape-permitCut through the red tape of the building permit process!

Obtaining a building permit in Chicago with the standard building permit review process typically requires a comprehensive multi-discipline review that can take a considerable amount of calendar time, possibly extending the completion date of your upcoming project. Certain projects types qualify for an accelerated “Self Cert” permit process only for projects performed by qualified “Self Cert” architects.

With all the required documents submitted, the “Self Cert” permit may be issued with NO comprehensive review by the Chicago Department of Buildings. The intent of this process is to allow projects to get started faster, without the delays that may occur in other building permit applications.
